Posting without being subscribed is possible and acceptable, but the first post is subject to delays because the list admin has to approve the posting. Please use group replies, the sender might not be subscribed.
The list is registered on gmane.org:

This way it is possible to read the mailing list archive and subscribe to it in a news reader. Posting to the list via gmane.org is possible via a web browser and news reader.
The Synthesis mailing list is also on gmane.org:

Cross-posting between the two lists is acceptable when used moderately for issues related to both SyncEvolution and libsynthesis, like developing new features in libsynthesis which are used in SyncEvolution or discussing bugs that affect both.

For SyncEvolution mailing list messages posted after 2009-07-16, the mail-archive.com URL is http://www.mail-archive.com/syncevolution@syncevolution.org/.
mail-archive.com: main article updated
Thanks Richard for pointing that out. I've updated the main article accordingly. The underlying reason is that the mailing list moved without preserving the original list ID, so to mail-archive.com it looks like a new list.
