The power panel displays the battery status of your netbook.
You access the power panel via the toolbar, by simply clicking a power icon.

The power control panel is divided into 2 key areas; On the left hand side is a brightness slider which gives you the ability to control the amount of power your netbooks display is using, and on the right you can quickly see how must battery time you have remaining.
NB Not all netbook models support the display brightness control.

No battery icon on toolbar
There is no battery icon on toolbar in Moblin, but it exists in WindowsXP.
How to add the battery icon on toolbar in Moblin?

Where's shutdown?!
I know I can shutdown/reboot via the CLI, but is there a GUI option for this that I'm missing??
