Boot an image on your netbook (or MID)
After putting a Moblin image on a USB pen drive (or CD-RW), you can boot a mobile device from that USB pen drive.
Overview
Steps to create an image for your device:
- Install and run Image Creator.
- Create a project and target for your platform.
- (Optional) Add applications or customize the target file system.
- Create an image of the target.
- Boot the image on your netbook or MID.
Load and Run an Image on your netbook or MID
Insert the USB pen drive that contains the image into your Netbook or other mobile device.
Warning: Non-live images will erase your target system hard drive. Before you start this task, be sure you know if you created a live or an installable image.
Turn on or reboot your mobile device. If the USB pen drive is booted first, you will see the following:
Live Image

Non-live Image

If your device does not boot from the USB drive, you will need to reboot, go into the BIOS, and make sure that the USB drive is set to boot before the hard drive in the boot order.

Who would ever think that you
Who would ever think that you can own a computer with only $50 in your pocket. Guess what? Now it is possible. With the new Netbook. The $50 small computer called a Netbook is being offered by AT&T when you sign up for their $60 a month data plan. You have a cap on downloads, but you don't need payday loans to get a computer. Netbooks are a smaller versions of laptops, not a lot of memory, but good for some small processing tasks and connecting to the internet. It's good to know you don't have to get payday loans and yet you can get a $50 computer.

what is the user name and password of the image I created
Hi Sir ,
I have successfulyl create the UME IMAGE . But while I plug my USB disk into the target platform . It show :
ume login :
I have no idea about the user id and password . Please help .
Thanks .
you can set a password in a terminal
in the MIC select the target and use the terminal to chroot into the image.
set password for root and ume by typing
eg
sudo passwd root
you will have to supply new password (of your choice) twice
That's it build a new Target image, create your USB media and next time you are at the command prompt you can use the password set above.
Hope this helps
Pat
if you're still looking for the password
as far as i can tell, it's blank. i'm guessing the user is "ume", but there is no password. i just hit enter and it seemed to work fine.
