Moblin Tone and Voice
But first, a very brief note about the tone of Moblin itself. One of the main design features of Moblin is its casual, almost playful tone, which is very different than most operating systems, which are more formal, bland, and technical. You will see terms like "Brighter than the sun" to set the brightness level of the screen, and "Turn up to 11" to set the sound at peak volume. The idea is to use terms and words that make sense in your language/country, and is like friends talking to each other.
Bouncing ideas off fellow translators or friends and family can help you make the Moblin experience unique for your language and locale.
There is a nice introductory video about Moblin here, that may help with understanding it a bit.
Note: Moblin uses a variety of upstream packages that have their own thriving translation communities (many of them are also active on Moblin). The Moblin developers add strings to these packages, and sometimes the Moblin tone is definitely different than the existing tone. Please don't overwrite an existing translation when you are translating Moblin-specific strings.
