Moblin is under active development, which makes it a challenge for translation into multiple languages. We are currently getting Transifexset up to begin the process of community-based translations.
This is a new process for the Moblin localization team, and we'd like your input. Have you used Transifex? What other translation tools have you used? Join the mailing list and let the discussions begin.

hi,
I have finished one translatio and would like to submit by following
# Go back to translate.moblin.org and go to the Bisho project, Moblin2-UI page.
# Scroll down until you see the “Add a new translation” button. Click that.
could not find the button. Please suggest.
Anousak
Lao Team
Probably have only read access to Transifex
Hello Anousak, and thanks for working on the Lao version of Moblin... You probably have "read access" only to Transifex, therefore you're able to view and download files, but can not submit the translated versions you worked on. You might try e-mailing your po file to the moderator of this mailing list (we'll post it), while I check with Margie, the L10N Manager, what we can do on our end to facilitate access to transifex to the community of Moblin users and supporters.
Sincerely,
Loïc (French team)

Thoughts on transifex
I see that many have used transifex. I'd really like to know what you think of it. Is it easy to use? Any ideas on making it work better? I realize that the people who translate are more important than the tool, but let's use a tool that we all like that helps make the job easier.
transifex is good tool
I am using transifex. It is great tool, yet it is not providing online translation, but it is
helpful for translators as no need to use version control system, just download
file (PO, XLIFF etc) files, translated with tool (may be windows, linux based), upload
back to transifex.
Spanish translation
Feel free to contact me if you need a spanish translator.
Cheers!
Lao translation
Greetings from Laos.
I will take responsibility to localize Moblin to Lao language. I will start once we have Transifex ready. By the way, I have done many Open Source projects currently and in the past so I will strongly that we could take this project to its highest possibility.
Cheers to Moblin!
Laonux
Catalan
I'd be willing to participate in catalan translation of moblin. As a casual translator for other opensource projects (spec. with www.softcatala.org), i've used transifex as well as other methods.
Transifex is fine enough, what matters is not the tool but the people.
Translating into Russian.
Few weeks ago I've started gettin into Transifex, so i can participate too )
I'm ready to work with
I'm ready to work with Russian l10n. I'm in kde l10n team... also I've worked with some other software (for example, Tellico).
Any roadmap?
translation
I haven't much experience with desktop coding, or managing a very large project such as moblin, so my input may be less comprehensive than needed.
I generally write web code in web2py. It comes with a built in translation tool. When defining an string of text, you can encapsulate the string in a function, in this case called T().
example.
response.flash= T('This is a string, and can be manipulated and translated.')
This will take all the strings in the entire project and build you a nice little 'translation page'. You simply create a new language, and it provides text boxes next to each string that needs translating. It's simple, but super effective.
Again, I don't know how hard this would be to implement into a lower level language (I assume c, c++?) but in python it works like a charm.
I guess in the spirit of netbooks, you could provide a web service that automatically downloads language files. Users that are members here can have access to the pages and ability to edit/update and create new languages.
Moblin uses GNU gettext,
Moblin uses GNU gettext, isn't it?
Wow! This is great!
I am excited to see you all interested in translating moblin. We almost have transifex set up, and once that happens, I will let you know via my blog and the mailing list.
