The Linux Foundation (LF), the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, today announced it will host the industry’s most advanced and open Linux-based mobile project, Moblin. Created in 2007, Moblin is an open source project that supports Linux-based software platforms, and is optimized for the next generation of mobile devices, including netbooks, mobile Internet devices (MID), in-vehicle infotainment systems, and other embedded devices.
The first developer meeting for the Moblin project, under the Linux Foundation, took place at the Annual Collaboration Summit April 8-10, 2009, in San Francisco.
